Becky Scoggins is a specialized trauma-informed E-RYT-200 yoga instructor and Prison Yoga Project ™ ambassador. She has spent the last several years teaching yoga exclusively to the at-risk population, both youth and adult, as well as trauma-impacted individuals in various facilities all over the state.

In 2016, Becky created a yoga program, called REAL LIFE. REAL YOGA. ™, which is designed to bring behavioral change to at-risk youth and/or adults by offering yoga and mindfulness techniques designed to lower stress and anxiety, manage PTSD, and increase impulse control and self-awareness.

There are currently over 60 institutions across the United States that are implementing a systematically proven methodology of teaching yoga and mindfulness to the at-risk and trauma-impacted population, be it at a community center, church, prison, jail, rehabilitation center or other facility. The results have been proven with numerous case studies and evidence-based support, which include additional benefits such as lowered health care costs, reduced violent offenses and re-entry into the justice system, increased impulse control, and lowered use of medications used to treat anxiety disorders and other conditions caused by trauma.

Becky now offers workshops, seminars and classes for yoga instructors, nonprofit organizations, clinicians, therapists, correctional officers, and other mental health professionals in order to educate direct care providers about the effects of trauma and therapeutic yoga techniques that can be used to complement other treatments. She lives in Greensboro with her family.
